Lion Steel is fully automated with state-of-the-art Direct Current Electric Arc Furnace-Compact Strip Production (EAF-CSP) process, which incorporates the ‘Thin Slab Casting’ technology developed by SMS of Germany.

CSP – Thin Slab Casting technology is recognized worldwide as the latest technology to produce high quality flat steel with significantly higher production yield and energy savings. In adopting this process, Lion Steel is more environmental friendly as it recycles steel scrap and uses the clean raw material, Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) and Hot Direct Reduction Iron (HDRI) in its EAF operation.

Lion Steel is the only steel mill in Malaysia to use this advanced CSP technology. Its Cold Rolling Mill facilities included a Continuous Pickling and Oiling Line, 5-Stand 4-High Tandem Mill, Electrolytic Cleaning Line, Batch Annealing Furnace, Temper Mill and a Recoiling and Oiling Line with Tension Leveller.
